"Reaching Boys and Girls with the Gospel of Christ and Training Them to Serve Him"

AWANA is an acronym for "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed"
from 2 Timothy 2:15

During the school year, on nearly every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:00pm, Grace Baptist Church is bustling with activity. It is on Wednesday nights that clubbers from three years old through sixth grade meet at Grace Baptist Church. They come to play games, they come to memorize Bible verses, they come to hear the Word of God taught, they come to have FUN! A kids’ ministry without fun is a ministry without kids.
That’s why Awana takes fun “seriously.” Our club meetings are so exciting that kids can’t wait to come back for more. Each evening of Awana is divided into three periods, game time, handbook time and council time. During Game Time team competition takes place in our unique circle games and during other playground favorites. The Awana game circle provides maximum opportunity for clubbers to get involved, no matter their athletic ability. They unleash their energy while learning teamwork, sportsmanship, and other character traits through their participation.

During Handbook Time kids work one on one with a trained leader to finish assignments in their curriculum materials. Awana emphasizes memorizing and understanding key Bible verses that teach children how to know and follow God. A series of awards and trophies reward their achievements at every level. As clubbers pass sections in their handbooks, they earn Awana shares.  Awana shares are play money that clubbers can use to buy toys, candy, and other Awana memorabilia. The Awana store is usually held once a month.

During Council Time kids and leaders gather together for singing, announcements, awards presentations and, most importantly, a practical Bible message that is age appropriate for that club. With all this fun any child, no matter of their religious background, will fit right in. Check out the Awana calendar for theme night and special events like, the Awana Grand Prix, Awana Olympics, and the Awana Fair. awana_011.jpg
